Questions

Wallpapering FAQs

  • How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?

It depends on the room size, the roll size and the pattern repeat. I'll measure up at the free survey and give you an exact number, including a spare roll.

  • Can you hang new wallpaper over old wallpaper?

It's not something I'd recommend. The moisture in fresh paste can loosen the old paper underneath, causing bubbles and peeling, and any seams or lumps will show through. Stripping the old paper first gives a far better, longer-lasting result.

  • Do I need lining paper?

Not always. Smooth, sound walls can be papered directly. Lining paper is worth it on uneven, cracked or older walls, and with heavy or designer papers, as it gives an even base and helps the finish last.

  • Do you hang designer and paste-the-wall papers?

Yes. I hang all types, including hand-printed, textured, grasscloth, paste-the-wall papers and murals. Each needs a slightly different method and paste, and I'll always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Do you supply the wallpaper?

Most customers choose and buy their own paper, and I'll tell you exactly how much to order. Lining paper and paste are included in your quote.
