  • How much does a decorator cost?

    I charge a day rate, with materials added on top, so the cost depends on how many days the job takes and the paint or paper needed. A refresh of sound surfaces is quicker than a full redecoration with stripping and repairs. After a free survey, you’ll get a written quote showing the days, the materials and exactly what preparation is included.

  • How soon can you start?

    Usually within a few weeks of accepting a quote. Small jobs can sometimes be fitted in sooner, so it’s always worth asking.

  • Do I need permission to repaint in a conservation area?

    Repainting in the same colour usually doesn’t need permission. Listed buildings, and homes covered by an Article 4 direction, may need consent for colour or material changes. Check with your local council’s conservation officer before changing colours, and I’m happy to help you with what to ask.
